Moreton Bay NDIS Networking Community Event
🗓️ Tues, 11th November
📍Lagoon Creek Cafe & Function Room
This week, our Multicultural Engagement Coordinator, Farina Murray, attended the Moreton Bay NDIS Networking Community event at Lagoon Creek Cafe & Function Room to connect, mingle and share ideas and initiatives with other providers, including our Peer Support and Capacity Building Program project for multicultural communities.
Supporting Local Social Enterprise: Lagoon Creek Café
The event supports the team at the Lagoon Creek Cafe, which is a social enterprise of Better Together. Lagoon Creek Café provides meaningful employment for people with different abilities that have previously faced barriers to employment. The event was wonderful showcase of the skills and abilities of participants training at the café who kept the amazing food they had prepared food coming until everyone was well and truly full!
Sharing, Learning, and Looking Ahead
It was also a terrific opportunity to hear about the work of other providers and share what’s coming with our DiversAbilities peer support platform.
This free, easy-to-use online space for people from multicultural backgrounds with disabilities will enable people to connect, learn and share with others in their community. The platform will also give people the ability to explore tailored resources such as podcasts and videos, find services that match cultural needs, and learn about events — all in one place.
Watch this space.
A huge thank you to the collaborative efforts of Plan Partners, Better Together, ECHCS and Lagoon Creek Café for partnering to create this fantastic event and for the invitation to attend.
We look forward to sharing more in the future.
